چکیده
Abstract A novel closed-vessel microwave system for leaching of valuable metals from spent LIBs was examined using ascorbic acid. Important parameters and energy requirement were assessed. Leaching efficiency Li, Co, Mn total decreased as heating rate increased 5 °C/min to 90 °C/min. significantly with increasing acid concentration. temperature 75 °C 125 °C data fitted well pseudo second order model. Complete obtained at 0.5 M acid, 40 °C/min rate, 10 g/L solid liquid ratio, within 10 min. Using 0.1 M could induce reduction Co (III) in (II), evidenced by XPS analysis. Total 97.66% 58.99% solution recovered on the addition oxalic Compared conventional leaching, provides an effective energy-efficient process since heat loss is lessened high pressure intensified reactions.

Leaching Process for the Recovery of Valuable Metals from Spent Lithium- Nickel-cobalt-manganese-oxide-based Lithium-ion Batteries
This study focused on the leaching process for the recycling of Li, Ni, Co, and Mn from the LiNixCoyMnzO2 (NCM) cathodes of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Eh–pH diagrams were used to analyze suitable leaching conditions. Operating variables, such as the concentration of H2SO4 (0.5–2.5 M), concentration of H2O2 (0–1 vol%), temperature (10–50 °C), stirring speed (400–800 rpm), and solid/liqu...
متن کاملMicrobial Leaching Process to Recover Valuable Metals from Spent Petroleum Catalyst Using Iron Oxidizing Bacteria
Spent petroleum catalyst from Korean petrochemical industry contains trace amount of metals such as Ni, V and Mo. Therefore an attempt was made to recover those trace metal using bioleaching process. Different leaching parameters such as Fe(II) concentration, pulp density, pH, temperature and particle size of spent catalyst particle were studied to evaluate their effects on the leaching efficie...

an approach to recycle precious metals of cathode materials from spent lithium cobalt oxide batteries by using organic citric acid and hydrogen peroxide has been studied in this paper. the effects of molar ratio, solid-liquid ratio, reaction time and temperature on leaching efficiency of cobalt were investigated respectively. meanwhile the leaching kinetics equation of cobalt was established, a...
متن کاملRecovery of cobalt sulfate from spent lithium ion batteries by reductive leaching and solvent extraction with Cyanex-272
Cobalt sulfate was recovered from crushed and screened prismatic type spent lithium ion batteries (LIBs) containing 5~20 % Co, 5~7 % Li, 5~10 % Ni, 15% organic chemicals, and 7% plastics together with Cu, Al, Fe, and Mn. Cobalt was reductively leached from the -16 mesh fraction in 1 h by stirring with 2 M H2SO4 and 6 vol% H2O2, at 60 C and 300 rpm using a solid/liquid ratio of 100 g/L to give a...
متن کاملRecovery of cobalt and lithium from spent lithium ion batteries using organic citric acid as leachant.
In this work, a hydrometallurgical process based on leaching is applied to recover cobalt and lithium from spent lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Citric acid and hydrogen peroxide are introduced as leaching reagents and the leaching of cobalt and lithium with a solution containing C(6)H(8)O(7) x H(2)O is investigated. When both C(6)H(8)O(7) x H(2)O and H(2)O(2) are used an effective recovery of Li...
